It’s a natural law. We all get older, our bones weaker and movement stiffer. Sometimes I wonder when we’ll be dispensing the medicine that will slow down or cure the inevitable process of “aging”. Do you think we’ll ever see that person who lives to the age of 250 years old? Like in the countless sci-fi movies we’ve seen?

In any case, we have to deal with getting older, even if we do live to these mind-boggling ages. And as we live to older ages, this will naturally bring about more mobility and cognitive challenges that will affect our everyday lives.

Thankfully, we now have aids that can help treat these side-effects of getting older. Kings Pharmacy and Opticians have teamed up with Mobility2you to provide you with a fully-equipped Mobility Centre in Weoley Castle of Birmingham with the aim of helping all of those in the Community with mobility issues. We realised that there wasn’t a mobility shop in the vicinity and we wanted to fill that space so you don’t have to travel so far for it.

In this article, we’ll talk about those items that are most commonly sought after, who they can help and what you can do to order an aid to get you or your family on track to better living. If you want to talk to us now about our mobility aids and how we might be able to help you, please call 0121 477 7756 and we’ll be happy to speak to you.

Mobility equipment for all types of living

Mobility doesn’t just affect the elderly. Certain disabilities such as Parkinson’s, which can affect those younger than 65 yrs, Dementia, those partially sighted, Arthritis and those with fractures will all benefit from certain types of mobility/disability aid.

We at Kings Pharmacies and Mobility Centre have been providing mobility aids for some time now and all of our staff are fully trained on how to advise customers enquiring about equipment.

We’ve come to understand what the “best sellers” are in our Community, therefore, you’ll find out a bit more about what they are and who they can help below.

Incontinence Products

All types of incontinence products, from pants to bed sheets for those having difficulty controlling bowel and bladder movements. These are widely sought after and we have the largest selection in the whole area, stocking top-branded products such as Tena, Attends, Depends and Abena.

We can deliver incontinence products free of charge with our normal patient deliveries or for those orders which exceed more than £75.

Wheelchairs and Rollators

Another bestseller and something that is greatly helping both the elderly community and those with mobile disabilities. A rollator is often called a “wheeled walker.” It comprises of a frame with three or four large wheels, handlebars, and a built-in seat.

Pressure Ring Cushions

Pressure ring cushions are designed to reduce the pressure when sitting down, for example, if a patients’ bones or coccyx hurts. It also has a machine-washable cover.

Urinals

Portable urinals are the ideal bedroom aid for users who are confined to bed and struggle to get to the bathroom.

Walking Sticks and Reachers

Our walking sticks and reachers are ideal for anyone who has difficulty bending to pick up objects, or reaching smaller items in high or overhead shelves. They can also be helpful for those with limited mobility or hand strength.

Toilet Seats

Mobility toilet aids such as raised toilet seats, mobility toilet frames & more to assist the user with getting on & off the toilet.

Although these items are our bestsellers, we stock a wide range of daily living aids that aren’t just for those with disabilities. Please come into our store or give us a call to understand exactly what we else we can offer you ?
